In Memoriam We regret to inform our colleagues, friends and customers that Jeffrey Thomas passed away on June 2 after a long illness. The shop is closed and books are no longer available for sale on this website. Jeffrey Thomas opened for business in 1982 at 49 Geary Street, where customers and dealers found fine and rare books in many fields: Americana, fine press and limited editions, illustrated books, literature, natural history, and travel. He produced catalogues, exhibited at book fairs, and sold books online. In 2003, he closed the shop in downtown San Francisco and moved the books to his home, where he continued to sell via this website and at book fairs. He was a scholarly bookseller, who loved to acquire and catalogue books. His descriptions were well-researched and detailed. Placing a book with someone who truly appreciated it was a great satisfaction. This might take a day or a decade. If a book had been in stock for a number of years and a customer discussed its merits enthusiastically, he felt fulfilled. His family, friends, and colleagues mourn the man who was intelligent, witty, congenial and generous with his knowledge. We are blessed for having known him.
